Inspired by a key and then a key chain in 1976, Menottes dinh van have withstood the test of time, embodying the Maison’s timeless, contemporary jewelry par excellence. Jean Dinh Van wanted to easily separate his different keys. So, he created a key chain with a removable notch system. Starting with a practical everyday object, mounted on a chain, this clever system became a clasp. Traditionally, jewelry clasps are concealed. Yet, dinh van has made them the centerpiece of his jewelry, a truly iconic signature. This clasp rapidly became known as Menottes dinh van – handcuffs – because once the two elements are interlaced, it is almost impossible to separate them. A symbol of the eternal bond between two people, it first rose to the rank of a necklace clasp worn prominently along the neckline. It is now available in rings, earrings and bracelets, with a resolutely contemporary appeal.
